Mr. Sunil Naik, Director of Human Resources at DHL Global
Forwarding, paid the campus a visit for a session with the students of PGPB6.
Through his vast industry experience, Mr. Naik has handled multiple functions
in fields such as healthcare, retail, oil & gas and logistics. He's an
alumnus of XLRI - Xavier School of Management, Jamshedpur.
The guest lecture was not restricted to one specific topic
or subject. Mr. Naik opened with a simple discussion with the students
regarding their interests, before giving an introduction to DHL's activities
across the globe, the countries it functioned in, their vision, and the reasons
for why he's so proud of DHL. While keeping it an interactive session, Mr. Naik
gave us an overall understanding of the DHL's functioning, and from a broader
point of view, that of the Logistics industry.
He expanded on DHL's B2B and B2C sectors and elucidated the
fact that some of the biggest global companies are dependent on logistics. With
the growing power of the consumers, not only in the e-commerce sector but also
in almost every sector, logistics has a pivotal role to play in improving
overall customer experience. He spoke from the consumer and the business standpoint
of DHL, and discussed the many skills and qualities management graduates
needed. Logistics is an age old industry which has survived the test of time
for over 200 years. It is also believed that new age technology will find it
difficult to foray into this field, but DHL with its due diligence has managed
to pull this off with various innovative measures being engaged to improve
their performance and ultimately profitability.
Mr. Naik is extremely passionate about DHL Global
Forwarding, their massive business network and their value system. His
expansive knowledge about the various functions and its operations stand
testimony to this. A very engaging and informative session, the students were
quick to dive in with questions regarding DHL's Operations and the various
facets of Human Resources. The session ended on a light note where he used Game
of Thrones trivia to talk a little more about the multiple qualities any
industry looks for when recruiting.
